BuildPro STL Construction Wins The First City of St. Louis 50/50 Sidewalk Replacement Contract for 2020

Winner, Winner, Sidewalk Dinner

On January 22, the City of St. Louis held the first of three lettings for this year’s city sidewalk 50/50 repair and replacement contracts. Formal bids were submitted and then the results were read in front of three of the city’s aldermen in order to ensure a fair process and to determine the winning low bidder.

Eight different companies participated in the bid process. This was the first year that BuildPro decided to compete for one of these contracts which typically are valued between $750,000 and $1,000,000.

With everyone assembled in the Alderman’s chambers down at the City Hall, the bids were read one by one for all to hear. It’s a nerve-wracking and exciting moment. Weeks of work goes into preparing one of these bids. Smoke flies off the spreadsheets as over fifty line items need to be calculated down to the penny.

You don’t know if you’ve won until the last bid is read. Needless to say, in the end, BuildPro was the low bidder…by a razor’s edge of only $5000 below the next lowest bidder.

Excited to Start Fixing the City's Sidewalks

As the Winter winds down and Spring begins, BuildPro STL will start in on the Sidewalk program as the weather warms. We take a lot of pride in work like this, helping our city and our community keep its infrastructure tip top and beautiful. The work will last through most of the year. Stay tuned.
